Scuba Diving is not only an activity for fun loving adults. Kids love to have fun too and scuba diving is enjoyed by many others as a family activity.
The Junior Open Water Diver course designed for kids and teenagers follows the same academic modules as the Adult PADI Open Water Diver course. To complete the course, Junior divers must meet all requirements
for PADI Open Water Diver.
However, due to the nature of kids' short attention spans, the instructor to student ratio WILL BE REDUCED to 1 instructor to 2 kids for safety purposes.
Junior Open Water Divers may upgrade their certification
level to PADI Open Water Diver when they reach the age of 15 with
no additional requirements. However, if more than one
year has passed since the diver earned the
Junior certification, when requesting an
upgrade, it is recommended that the diver
complete a Scuba Review program.
Pre-requisite

Detailed Course Structure

|
Knowledge Development Session |
5 modules of academic session to develop your knowledge in diving. This is usually conducted on a Monday evening at Orpheus Dive from 7pm to 10pm. During the session, the instructors will go through the completed knowledge reviews and evaluate any mistakes or areas where divers are uncertain or weak at. Upon complete understanding of the uncertainties, students are required to sit through a quiz followed by a final exam to ensure 100% mastery and how and when to apply the knowledge.
Our in house course consultants will then tour the dive store with the divers to show them what basic gears should be acquired to make their diving more memorable and enjoyable. |
| |
|
 |
Skills Development Session |
| 5 modules of scuba skills development at the swimming pool. This is usually conducted on a Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7.00pm to 10.30pm, at Outram Secondary School.
During the session, fundamental skills of scuba diving required to keep a diver safe will be taught. Divers will also be introduced to all diving equipment needed during the course.
Even though the fees include all gears needed for the duration of the course, it is advisable that divers invest in their personal mask, fins, snorkel and wetsuit prior to the confined water session. Reason being is that students adapt faster using their own personal gear as they feel more comfortable and relaxed during the training. In addition, their next dive will need little or no adjustment to the equipment because they are already accustomed to their gear. |
| |
|
 |
Open Water Evaluation |
This is the most important and exciting part of the course. After all the knowledge and skills development and students showing competency in them, the open water training serves as an evaluation that student divers are able to take care of themselves and their buddy when they complete the course.
Student divers will be evaluated based on all the skills that have been taught to them during their confined water training and development.
Depending on the package you have selected (Pulau Tioman, Pulau Dayang, Pulua Redang, Pulau Perhentian and locally Pulau Hantu), you will head out for a weekend of fun, sun, sea and great memories to bring home. |

There are about 18 PADI Dive Centres in Singapore and only a handful of them has the rating of a PADI 5 Star IDC - one of the highest rating given to a dive centre.
Read more about PADI Dive Centre Rating here.
Short of telling you why we are good, we will tell you what it takes to become a proper PADI 5 Star IDC Centre. Even though there are some PADI 5 Star Facilities which only meets minimal requirements, Orpheus Dive has far superceded the minimal requirements, ensuring that our divers have a one stop dive centre and dive club.

Equipment Retail |
As a PADI 5 Star Dive Facility, a dive centre must provide in-house retail. Orpheus Dive has a well stocked inventory store covering major brands such as Scubapro, Zeagle, TUSA, Seac Sub, Beauchat, Trident, XS Scuba, Underwater Kinetics and Problue.
In Singapore, there ARE ONLY TWO dive centres that are into full retail business.
Note to diver : There are dive centres that make claims that they do have a retail business. However, they only have an online retail arm that purchase stocks when a customer makes an order. Unlike us, our well stocked store has everything that a diver needs. And because of the volume purchase, we are able to offer lower prices compared to the rest of the dive centres.
See our Absolute Campaign for more information |

 |
Equipment Servicing |
| |
Orpheus Dive Singapore is an Authorized Service Centre for Scubapro, Apollo, Zeagle and Seac Sub. We have a fulltime service technician that is solely in charge of helping divers service their equipment and handling their annual servicing needs. |
| |
|
 |
Equipment Rental |
| |
Orpheus Dive services and manages their own rental gear, unlike many independent dive centres and instructors who are dependent on others for their rental needs. All rental gears are serviced on a quarterly basis to ensure that they are kept in prime conditions.

Our fulltime staff and independent instructors has dived in exotic destinations such as Raja Ampat and Mozambique. We will be able to customize your dive travel needs based on your experience and budget.
Note to Diver : Diving with a dive centre without a valid travel license can spoil the entire weekend. Singapore Tourism Board and Land Transport Authority has the right to suspend the entire trip as this is legally not allowed. |
