PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course

The Deep Diver Specialty course offers you the opportunity of a lifetime - going deep to see things others can only dream about. In this course you will experience what it’s like to dive beyond 30 metres.

Diving deep for the sake of it is not fun but this will open your world to new and exciting dives such as on ship wrecks, holes and deeper reefs. There are certain dives that cannot be dived unless you possess the minimum of an Advanced certification such as the Repluse Wreck sitting at the bottom of East Coast of West Malaysia. With the PADI Deep Diver certification, this will not only give you the additional skills to dive deeper, but provide you with the additional dive-safe confidence that is necessary.

Pre-requisite

To qualify for the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course, an individual must:

  1. Must be a PADI Adventure Diver (or qualifying certification from another organization) and 15 years old
  2. Have experience diving beyond 18 metres/60 feet

Orpheus Dive is the only dive centre in Singapore that organizes the Master Scuba Diver Challenge program. Every year, two divers will stand a chance to win a free trip to top destinations such as Similans Islands, Sipadan and Manado to hone their newly acquired skills.

And if that is not enough, divers who sign up for the Master Scuba Diver Challenge program earn themselves the unique and 'NOT FOR SALE' Master Scuba Diver T-Shirt and Cap.

This course is designed to be an introduction to deep diving and to help the student diver develop the necessary skills, knowledge and techniques to safely participate in deep diving activities.

  1. Planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of deep diving
  2. Risk factors and decompression-tables review
  3. Safety stops and emergency decompression procedures
  4. Special equipment, descent lines and buoyancy-control considerations
  5. Procedures for flying after diving and high-altitude diving
  6. Orientation to recompression chambers

The recommended training schedule for this course commences with a 3 hour theory lesson conducted in Orpheus Dive, followed by 3 open water dives over a weekend.

  • Perform an ascent using a reference line as a visual guide only.
  • Use depth gauge and timing device (or decompression computer with ascent-rate indicator) to measure an ascent rate not to exceed 18 metres/60 feet per minute.
  • Perform a three-minute safety stop at 5 metres/15 feet before surfacing
without physically holding on to a reference line for positioning.

  • Perform an 8-minute simulated emergency decompression stop at 5 metres/15 feet before surfacing, while breathing from an emergency air source for at least one minute of the total time.

Dive 4

check Equipment Retail

As a PADI 5 Star Dive Facility, a dive centre must provide in-house retail. Orpheus Dive has a well stocked inventory store covering major brands such as Scubapro, Zeagle, TUSA, Seac Sub, Beauchat, Trident, XS Scuba, Underwater Kinetics and Problue.

In Singapore, there ARE ONLY TWO dive centres that are into full retail business.

Note to diver : There are dive centres that make claims that they do have a retail business. However, they only have an online retail arm that purchase stocks when a customer makes an order. Unlike us, our well stocked store has everything that a diver needs. And because of the volume purchase, we are able to offer lower prices compared to the rest of the dive centres.

See our Absolute Campaign for more information
