HOW IS A SCUBA REGULATOR MAINTAINED AND SERVICED IN A SERVICING CENTRE

Regulator Servicing Step 1

Checking all the initial variables of your regulator. This will allow us to troubleshoot or make a proper understanding what could be wrong with your regulator

Regulator Servicing Step 2

Using the appropriate tools for each brand, the regulator is disassembled. This is one of the most important step that many “servicing technicians” messed up by using generic tools.

Regulator Servicing Step 3

Each part is either hand washed or placed in a heated ultrasonic cleaner, depending on the manufacturer’s recommendation. The LP (Low Pressure) hoses will also be clean internally.

Regulator Servicing Step 4

After a thorough cleaning, each part is placed in a non-chemical degreaser solution to remove old grease and rinsed off completely using lukewarm water.

Regulator Servicing Step 5

All recommended parts are replaced and regreased with oxygen-compatible (MCG 111) grease. Only original parts from the recommended maintenance kits will be used. We do not use cheap silicone grease.

Regulator Servicing Step 6

Your SPG will also be stripped and cleaned, and the HP Spool (Stud) will be replaced. The Schrader Valve in your BPI hose will be replaced as well to prevent leaks. All O-rings on hoses will be replaced as well.

Regulator Servicing Step 7

The regulator will be reassembled and tuned back to factory default. Using a flowmeter, magnehelic gauge and a HP Manager, we are able to test your regulator under different tank pressure and the breathing effort.

Regulator Servicing Step 8

The final step of checking your scuba regulator after it has been correctly tested and reset back to factory default, your regulator will go through a water leak test to check for an potential leaks or existing leaks in your hoses and regulator.

All regulators will carry one (1) year warranty upon collection of your regulator. Should your scuba regulator requires additional work during the warranty period, it will be handled by us at no cost. Warranty do not cover regular wear and tear of your regulator including hoses, mouth pieces.

Were You Aware

As much as we try to take care of our investments, there are things that are beyond our control. For instance, the place that you are diving, they might not have a regular maintenance of their air compressor. This is especially true when they are catering to the mass market of divers. Very often, when we are servicing scuba regulators, we often come across regulators that are covered in carbon, telling us that the owner has been diving with dive centres that seldom service their air compressors.

Proper Tools and Authorized Maintenance Kits

Before sending your regulator to any dive centres for servicing. You have the right to request to see their service counter or room, if they have proper valid brand specific tools and maintenance kits. Every brand of regulator is unique and most of them require some special tools to correct disassemble and reassembly after each servicing. Original Authorized Maintenance (Service) kits ensure that the regulator do not have wrong parts in them.

Proper calibration and testing instruments is also a necessity to ensure that your regulator is performing up to the default factory settings.
