Prompt response: From initial enquiry to travel arrangement to PADI course details, Orpheus Dive has never failed to reply timely, even exceeding expectations!

Hassle-free & flexible to needs: Additional pool sessions requested for were arranged according to our schedules, all we had to do was to make payment. All other logistics arrangements were settled by Orpheus Dive, including the actual trip for PADI training and certification.

Patient & professional dive instructors: Had Lester, Hamish & Darwin train our group and they were very extremely professional in teaching the required skills. Special shout-out to Darwin who has been most patient, most encouraging, most kind to help learners overcome fears and anxiety. He even went the extra mile to take underwater photos and videos to serve as a motivational tool and of course, those were most helpful in the post-dive review sessions. Outstanding service through and through!

You teach with passion, you are very focus and analytic. You corrected my problems during the lesson. You took time to explain every single drills, you added new stuff to make the training fun. You go through again to make sure I understand. I think you are not just a instructor , but an amazing Teacher.

I want to say thank you to especially Michael & Darwin for tonight lesson.

From zero to a certified advanced open water diver over one weekend, it would not be possible with the guidance from Michael and Nicholas, really, thank you very much for your help for this trip!

My sister and I have just recently completed our open water course with Orpheus. The class that we were in had a small ratio of 1 instructor to 3 students and our instructor, Nicholas Chow, was awesome! He was very patient throughout and ensured that each of us was able to carry out a specified task before moving onto next. I was also experiencing seasickness on the first day of the dive and Nicholas was quick to pass me ointments/seasick pills plus shared with me some very helpful tips on overcoming seasickness/equalization problems. Overall, I had a very enjoyable experience and felt safe throughout the course ( I would highly recommend Orpheus to everyone – thanks Orpheus!

Why are your course fees more expensive than the rest of the dive centres I have enquired?

Most of the dive centres are adopting a 1:4 or 5 student ratio, lowering the operating cost of the instructor onboard of the vessel. We do not want to compete on pricing at the risk of forsaking safety protocols. An ideal class is 1:2 or 1:3 (instructor to student) in limited visibility like Pulau Hantu.

And while most dive centres are still using the traditional manual and classroom, we have learnt from the Circuit Breaker, online learning is significantly more beneficial for students.

How BAD is the visibility in Pulau Hantu?

On a good day, we can enjoy visibility up to 3 to 4 metres. But on most day, the expected visibility is 1 metre or less, hence the main reason why we want to reduce the instructor to student ratio.

I am Myopic. Can I dive?

Of course you can. There are two options for you. You can either choose to dive with daily disposal contact lens or you can opt to invest in a good pair of scuba diving mask with prescriptive lens

I am Claustrophobic. Is that gonna cause a problem?

If you think you are suffering from either agoraphobia or claustrophobia, we would suggest that you have a word with your doctor and inform us that you would like to have a 1 to 1 instructor for your own safety. But we have conducted courses for divers suffering from either conditions.

I am above 50 years old. Can I still dive?

There is no maximum age. As long as your medical clearance is done and your family doctor has certified you that you are fit for diving, then it will not be an issue. However, we might modify part of the training to suit your current needs.

What is there a major price difference between the PADI E-Learning and Hardcopy Manual?

The new PADI E-Learning materials have many advantages. The first thing we have heard from the students is that they are able to focus better on learning in the comfort of their own house. Another reason is, they can learn the material at their own convenience without wasting too much time traveling to the dive school.

Last but not least, the E-Learning materials are more conducive and interactive.

Can my kids to the course at Pulau Hantu as well?

At this moment of time, this is the only option really. However, we children attending the lessons, the ratio is strictly 1:2 and if you would like, we do have 1:1 class ratio prices as well.

I am really obese. Is that gonna be a problem?

Nope, not an issue at all. As long as your doctor signs on your medical form and have given you clearance to dive, there is absolutely no reason why you can’t

I am not a strong swimmer. Can I still dive?

As long as you are able to meet the pre-requisite, we do not see why not. However, if you have just picked up swimming and still have water confidence issues, we would suggest that you sign up for a 1 to 1 Instructor classes.

Can my children learn diving with me?

Yes, of course. As long as they are ten years old and older, and have met all the pre-requisite, we do not see why not. However, for children who are participating in a course, we do not allow a class bigger than 2 people in a group.
